Mosquito Control & Prevention | Help Fight the Bite

Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance, but can also carry diseases. Residents are encouraged to take simple preventative steps to help reduce mosquito activity throughout the community. Standing water around the home can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

If you believe there may be areas around your property where water is collecting, please contact 311 to request a home inspection.

Ways to help control mosquitoes:

  • Repair leaky pipes and outdoor faucets

  • Move house cooler drain hoses regularly

  • Install screens on rain barrels and openings to water tanks or cisterns

  • Empty standing water from boats

  • Change water and scrub vases holding flowers or cuttings twice weekly, or grow cuttings in soil

  • Remove unused outdoor containers such as tires, cans, bottles, buckets, and drums

  • Clean clogged roof gutters and drain flat roofs that collect water

  • Scrub and change water in bird baths twice weekly

  • Empty pet and livestock watering areas daily

  • Fill holes in trees with sand or mortar, or drain or treat as needed

  • Empty plastic wading pools weekly and store under shelter when not in use

  • Stock decorative ponds with minnows, which naturally consume mosquito larvae

Roof Cleaning:

  • Please ensure that your roof is free of dirt, debris, and mildew. A clean roof enhances the overall appearance of your property and contributes to the aesthetic of our community.

Landscape Maintenance:

  • Regularly maintain your front post lamps, lawns, gardens, and shrubs. This includes mowing, weeding, trimming bushes, and ensuring your yard is tidy and presentable.

Property Maintenance:

  • Take care of any visible maintenance issues such as peeling paint, damaged fences, or worn-out shutters. Proper upkeep of your home´s exterior helps maintain the neighborhood´s uniform appearance.

General Cleaning:

  • Pressure wash any areas around the home with dirt, mold, or rust stains.6. Mailboxes: Please ensure mailboxes are clean, upright, and in good condition.

By addressing these common issues, homeowners can avoid violations and help create a welcoming, attractive community. Let´s work together to maintain a neighborhood we´re all proud to call home!

Our goal is to preserve the quality, appearance, and long-term value of the community.
